GCC’s Lima Campus Center Hosts Victorian Yule Celebration

Lima, New York- The Lima Campus Center of Genesee Community College invites local community members to celebrate the holidays with a Victorian Yule dinner on Sunday, December 18 at The Rabbit Room restaurant inside the Lower Mill in Honeoye Falls, NY. Beginning at 3:00 p.m., the celebration will take guests back in time to the Victorian era for a traditional Yule dinner.

The afternoon’s events will include traditional 19th century fare, served buffet style, as well as carolers, period storytelling, a Victorian Gentlemen and a cash bar. Tickets for the event are $30 for adults, $12 for children (12 and under) and children under three are free. Tickets may be purchased at GCC’s Lima Campus Center or at The Rabbit Room restaurant. Reservations must be made by Monday, December 12.

“The Civil War era Yule dinner will bring Victorian flavor to Honeoye Falls! Guests will delight in the event’s fun and fare, with seasonal music and lovely ambiance reflected in menu and décor,” Monica Mattioli, associate dean of the Lima Campus Center said. “In harmony with our four-year-long commemoration of the anniversary of the Civil War, the Victorian Gentleman will greet our guests with hospitality typical of the time, conversing about customs and attitudes of the day. We encourage early reservations for this popular event, as space is limited."

This celebration is part of the Lima Campus Center’s Civil War Initiative (CWI), a multi-year program for community members to learn about and commemorate the rich history of the American Civil War. The CWI will provide several opportunities throughout the year to discover the history of the Civil War through lectures, movies and other activities that will lead up to a Civil War reenactment.

Located at 61 North Main Street in the village of Honeoye Falls, the Rabbit Room restaurant and galleries lies South of Mendon Ponds Park on Route 65 (Clover Street) just 20 minutes from the City of Rochester.

The Lima Campus Center is located at 7285 Gale Road Lima, NY 14485 just 1 mile north of Lima on Route 15A. For further information please contact the Lima Campus Center at 585-582-1226 or visit http://www.genesee.edu/Lima.
