FREE Computer/Web Design Workshop for Local Historical Societies and Museums

Genesee Community College is pleased to offer a FREE computer/web design workshop for local historical societies and museums in the GLOW Region on March 1st, 2012 from 1:00-4:00pm at the Conable Technology Building in Batavia. This workshop is designed to help small, resource-challenged organizations create and maintain a FREE website. Organizations should send at least one person with moderate computer skills (someone that knows how to surf the web and/or send and receive e-mail) and materials that they would want posted on a new website. It is anticipated that by the end of the workshop, organizations will have fully operational websites. Seats are limited, so organizations are strongly encouraged to pre-register.

This free workshop will include:

–sign up for a (free) WordPress blog
–investigate basic configuration options
–set up categories and tags
–manage feedback
–review site statistics
–turn the blog into a web site
–add media to posts and pages
–set up polls and forms
–work with widgets

To register for the workshop (on a first-come basis), contact Prof. Derek Maxfield via e-mail: In case of bad weather, there will be a snow date of March 5th at the same time and place.
